About Game Design

About Game Design (AGD) is an experimental blog/discussion project where several professionals with design positions within the videogame development industry each write a post about a certain topic.

We’re all designers in one form or another, like game mechanics, level design and interface.

How Does It Work?

There is always one active topic which is a short question or statement relating to game design.

Each author on AGD that feels he want to then writes one post about what he/she, personally, think or where he/she stands on the subject. It can be any length, everything from a short bullet list to a long article. There is never any obligation to write anything in particular, nor is there an obligation to write anything at all. If one doesn’t wish to write about a specific topic, he can easily choose not to do so.

Each post can stand by itself, never requiring you, the reader to having read a post by another author in advance.

The active topic is changed every two weeks and we do our best to try and scatter the publishing dates of our posts, so you’re not overrun by a huge amount of text and then greeted with two weeks silence.

Why Are You Doing This?

Of course the motivation for everyone of us can differ, but the overall purpose for this site is for us to learn from each other, while at the same time contributing something for everyone with an interest in game design and game development.

We want to encourage and spread our ways of thinking for those who are willing to listen.

Ownership

We all own what we write, meaning it’s okay to post our text on our own site/blog as well or use it in any other scenario. We don’t own what other people write though.

We have no intention of making money out of this.
